Introduction to West Country Embroiderers
West Country
Embroiderers was founded in 1973 with the aim of promoting and
encouraging the skill of embroidery to all levels of ability.
Today we have almost 1000 members from an area covering Cornwall,
Devon, Dorset, Hampshire, Somerset and Wiltshire.
Because of the large geographical area covered thirty five individual groups have been formed. Each group is autonomous with a Group Representative appointed to ensure the smooth running of the organisation. Group
Residential courses for our members are held in February/March and October at The Kingcombe Centre in Tollor Porcorum, Nr Dorchester, and in May at Treloyan Manor in St Ives. Summer and Winter Newsletters are distributed to all members to keep them up to date with all that is going on within and around WCE. It is hoped our new website will reach a wider audience who may be encouraged to come along and join us.
