A.G.M 21st October 2017, at Totnes

Our 2017 AGM will be held at The Ariel Centre, Totnes, TQ9 5JX on Saturday 21 October at 11.30am. The venue is accessible by public transport, both rail and road, with easy access from the A38 and free parking on site. The Ariel Centre offers us theatre style accommodation for our meeting with public address and projection facilities, room for our traders and an exhibition space.

Coffee and tea will be available between 10.30am and 11.30am and through lunchtime. Following comments made in the past concerning the inconvenience of taking lunch in the theatre we have arranged for the Canteen to be available to us for members wishing to take their lunch there.

Our speaker is Kate Strasdin and her talk will be entitled ‘The Secrets of Anne Sykes Dress Diary’ Anne Sykes, who lived in Plympton, was a dressmaker in the mid-nineteenth century and she had kept a diary of the clothes she had made, the fashions of the time and swatches of fabric used. We felt this would be a most interesting subject for our AGM Meeting.

On this occasion we have decided not to hold our usual challenge but instead to try and put on a display of work done at our day schools. Members are asked to bring along work done at day schools - it need not be finished!!! - but should be labelled with their name, the name of the tutor and the title of the day school.

Please do make a note of the date and support us. The AGM is mercifully short, you can meet up with friends from around WCE and indulge in a bit of retail therapy at the same time.
